EDUKASI PENTINGNYA MEMAHAMI DAN MEMATUHI BUD (BEYOND USE DATE) PADA OBAT DI KALANGAN MASYARAKAT KECAMATAN PAMULANG

Abstract

Public knowledge about the world of health, especially medicine, is still very limited. One drug that is less well known by the public is BUD (Beyond Use Date). BUD is the time limit for using a medicinal product after it has been formulated/prepared or after the primary packaging has been opened/damaged. Meanwhile, ED (Expired Date) is the time limit for using a medicinal product after being produced by the manufacturer before the packaging is opened. ED is written by the manufacturer on the packaging while BUD is not always listed. Providing correct information regarding BUD is a necessity for the community to avoid negative impacts that may arise, including: the occurrence of medication errors, therapy targets that are not optimal and reducing the effectiveness of the drug. Almost everyone keeps medicine as supplies in their household, including residents of Jl. Waru 2 RT.02/03 Pamulang District. Medicines that are usually kept as supplies are usually purchased deliberately to be used during an emergency, apart from that, medicines stored at home are leftover medicines from previous use. Drug storage is carried out because the expiration date stated on the packaging is still quite long. The participants selected for this activity are housewives.

Abstrak

Pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap dunia kesehatan khususnya farmasi masih sangat terbatas. salah satu pengetahuan obat yang kurang dikenal yakni BUD (Beyond Use Date). BUD adalah batas waktu penggunaan produk obat setelah diracik/disiapkan atau setelah kemasan primernya dibuka/dirusak. Sedangkan ED (Expired Date) berarti umur simpan suatu obat setelah diproduksi oleh produsen sebelum kemasannya dibuka. ED dicantumkan oleh produsen pada kemasannya, sedangkan BUD tidak selalu dicantumkan. Pemberian informasi yang benar mengenai BUD menjadi kebutuhan masyarakat agar terhindar dampak negatif yang mungkin timbul antara lain: terjadinya medication error, target terapi tidak optimal serta menurunkan efektifitas obat tersebut. Hampir setiap orang menyimpan obat sebagai persediaan dirumah tangganya, termasuk warga jl. Waru 2 RT.02/03 Kecamatan Pamulang. Obat yang biasanya disimpan sebagai persediaan biasanya sengaja dibeli untuk digunakan pada saat keadaan darurat, selain itu penyimpanan obat yang terdapat dirumah merupakan sisa obat dari pemakaian sebelumnya. Penyimpanan obat dilakukan oleh karena expiration date yang tertera pada kemasan masih tergolong cukup lama. Peserta yang dipilih dalam kegiatan PKM ini ialah ibu rumah tangga.
