EDUKASI PEMANFAATAN EKSTRAK DAUN SERAI BERUPA AROMATERAPI SABUN SEBAGAI PENUNJANG RELAKSASI INSOMNIA

Insomnia is a common sleep disorder in the elderly, reducing quality of life and contributing to physical and mental health issues. Aromatherapy is considered a safe and natural alternative therapy. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of lemongrass-based aromatherapy gel soap in improving sleep quality in elderly individuals. A pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design was used with 15 elderly participants experiencing insomnia. The intervention involved using the gel soap before sleep for 7 days. The results showed improved sleep quality, marked by quicker sleep onset, deeper rest, and feeling refreshed upon waking. Lemongrass essential oils like citronella and geraniol have calming effects that aid sleep. Lemongrass aromatherapy gel soap may serve as an effective and safe non-pharmacological therapy for the elderly.
