Abstract


                                                   ABSTRACT

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), pregnancy is a crucial phase in a woman's life that requires comprehensive physical and mental health monitoring to ensure a positive pregnancy experience (WHO Recommendations on Antenatal Care for a Positive Pregnancy Experience, 2016). The WHO reports that many pregnant women worldwide experience physical discomforts such as back pain, sleep disturbances, fatigue, stress, and anxiety due to hormonal changes and the physiological burden of pregnancy. These conditions not only affect the mother's well-being but also impact fetal growth and readiness for childbirth. Furthermore, the WHO emphasizes the importance of a holistic, non-pharmacological approach to prenatal care, including relaxation techniques, light physical activity, and emotional support to help pregnant women achieve a balanced state of mind and body. Pregnancy is a period that requires special attention to the mother's physical and mental health. Physiological and hormonal changes often lead to complaints such as stress, sleep disturbances, back pain, and excessive fatigue. If not managed properly, these conditions can impact the well-being of both the mother and the fetus. One safe and effective non pharmacological approach to improving the comfort of pregnant women is acupressure therapy, a technique of applying gentle pressure to specific points on the body that stimulate blood flow, balance the body's energy, and promote relaxation. Recent research shows that acupressure can reduce anxiety levels, alleviate back pain, and improve sleep quality in pregnant women (Wulandari, 2020; Nurjanah, 2019). A meta-analysis by Zhang et al. (2023) also demonstrated that acupressure is effective and safe for treating nausea and vomiting in pregnant women compared to a control group. A community service activity entitled SENTUH-BUMIL (Acupressure Touch, the Secret to More Relaxed and Energetic Pregnant Women) was conducted to increase the knowledge and skills of pregnant women in performing acupressure techniques independently and safely. Through education, demonstrations, and hands-on practice on relaxation points such as the wrists (P6/Nei Guan), shoulders, back, and soles of the feet, pregnant women were encouraged to understand the benefits of acupressure touch for physical and emotional health. Before and after the activity, pregnant women's knowledge and relaxation levels were measured using a questionnaire. Guide leaflets were distributed and a WhatsApp group was established for discussion and consultation with healthcare professionals. It is hoped that through the SENTUH-BUMIL program, pregnant women will be able to apply acupressure as a natural way to reduce stress, improve sleep quality, increase energy, and maintain physical and emotional balance during pregnancy. This program also supports a promotive and preventive approach to maternal health, in line with the government's efforts to improve the well-being of pregnant women in Indonesia. The activity included counseling, demonstrations, and hands-on acupressure practice on relaxation points such as the wrists, back, shoulders, and soles of the feet. Participants were also given easy-to-understand acupressure point guide leaflets, and their knowledge and relaxation levels were measured before and after the activity using a questionnaire. To support the sustainability of the activity, a WhatsApp discussion group was established to share experiences and consult with healthcare professionals. This activity took place at the Pamulang Community Health Center in South Tangerang City, approximately 300 meters from the Widya Dharma Husada College of Health Sciences, Tangerang. It is hoped that through the SENTUH-BUMIL activity, pregnant women can utilize acupressure techniques as a simple way to reduce stress, increase energy, and maintain fitness during pregnancy.

Menurut World Health Organization (WHO), kehamilan merupakan fase yang sangat penting dalam kehidupan perempuan yang memerlukan pemantauan kesehatan fisik dan mental secara menyeluruh agar tercipta pengalaman kehamilan yang positif (WHO Recommendations on Antenatal Care for a Positive Pregnancy Experience, 2016). WHO melaporkan bahwa banyak ibu hamil di dunia mengalami ketidaknyamanan fisik seperti nyeri punggung, gangguan tidur, kelelahan, stres, serta kecemasan akibat perubahan hormonal dan beban fisiologis kehamilan. Kondisi tersebut tidak hanya memengaruhi kesejahteraan ibu, tetapi juga berdampak pada pertumbuhan janin serta kesiapan ibu menghadapi persalinan. Selain itu, WHO menekankan pentingnya pendekatan holistik dan nonfarmakologis dalam perawatan kehamilan, termasuk teknik relaksasi, aktivitas fisik ringan, dan dukungan emosional untuk membantu ibu hamil mencapai kondisi tubuh dan pikiran yang seimbang. Masa kehamilan merupakan periode yang membutuhkan perhatian khusus terhadap kesehatan fisik dan mental ibu. Perubahan fisiologis dan hormonal sering menyebabkan keluhan seperti stres, gangguan tidur, nyeri punggung, serta kelelahan yang berlebihan. Kondisi ini, bila tidak ditangani dengan baik, dapat memengaruhi kesejahteraan ibu maupun janin. Salah satu pendekatan nonfarmakologis yang aman dan efektif untuk meningkatkan kenyamanan ibu hamil adalah terapi acupressure, yaitu teknik penekanan lembut pada titik-titik tertentu di tubuh yang berfungsi melancarkan aliran darah, menyeimbangkan energi tubuh, serta membantu relaksasi. Hasil penelitian terbaru menunjukkan bahwa akupresur mampu menurunkan tingkat kecemasan, mengurangi nyeri punggung, serta memperbaiki kualitas tidur ibu hamil (Wulandari, 2020; Nurjanah, 2019). Meta-analisis oleh Zhang dkk. (2023) juga membuktikan bahwa acupressure efektif dan aman untuk mengatasi mual dan muntah pada ibu hamil dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertema SENTUH-BUMIL (Sentuhan Acupressure, Rahasia Ibu Hamil Lebih Rileks dan Berenergi) dilaksanakan sebagai upaya meningkatkan pengetahuan serta keterampilan ibu hamil dalam melakukan teknik acupressure secara mandiri dan aman. Melalui penyuluhan, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung pada titik-titik relaksasi seperti pergelangan tangan (P6/Nei Guan), bahu, punggung, dan telapak kaki, ibu hamil diajak untuk memahami manfaat sentuhan acupressure bagi kesehatan fisik dan emosional. Sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan dilakukan pengukuran pengetahuan serta tingkat relaksasi ibu hamil melalui kuesioner, disertai pemberian leaflet panduan dan pembentukan grup WhatsApp sebagai sarana diskusi dan konsultasi dengan tenaga kesehatan. Diharapkan melalui program SENTUH-BUMIL, ibu hamil dapat menerapkan acupressure sebagai cara alami untuk mengurangi ketegangan, memperbaiki kualitas tidur, meningkatkan energi, serta menjaga keseimbangan fisik dan emosional selama kehamilan. Program ini juga mendukung pendekatan promotif dan preventif di bidang kesehatan maternal, sejalan dengan upaya pemerintah dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan ibu hamil di Indonesia. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi penyuluhan, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung acupressure pada titik-titik relaksasi, seperti pergelangan tangan, punggung, bahu, dan telapak kaki. Peserta juga diberikan leaflet panduan titik acupressure yang mudah dipahami serta dilakukan pengukuran tingkat pengetahuan dan tingkat relaksasi sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan menggunakan kuesioner. Untuk mendukung keberlanjutan kegiatan, dibuat grup diskusi WhatsApp sebagai media berbagi pengalaman dan konsultasi dengan tenaga kesehatan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Puskesmas Pamulang, Kota Tangerang Selatan, yang berjarak sekitar 300 meter dari STIKes Widya Dharma Husada Tangerang. Diharapkan melalui kegiatan SENTUH-BUMIL, ibu hamil dapat memanfaatkan teknik acupressure sebagai upaya sederhana untuk menurunkan stres, meningkatkan energi, serta menjaga kebugaran selama kehamilan.
